Zoltan David receives his fourteenth major award from the Tanzanite Foundation.

London, England, August 17, 2006
The Tanzanite Foundation has announced the winners of the first Tanzanite ‘Celebration of Life’ Jewellery Design Awards, and among them is Zoltan David of Austin, Texas.  This award is currently one of only two major international jewelry design competitions in the world, and this will be Zoltan David’s fourteenth major award.

Tanzanite is a uniquely African gem, and the entries were judged on their interpretation of the theme ‘Be Born To Tanzanite’, beauty, practicality and originality.  The competition received entries from world class designers from over 20 countries and the judging had to be delayed due to the huge response.  The Manufacturer/Retailer category, which is the category Mr. David’s award won in, had the highest number of entrants.  The awards ceremony took place at the New York Public Library on January 22, 2007.  The winning collection will then go on tour of the major international trade shows, renowned galleries and museums.  Mr. David’s winning piece is titled ‘Flowerfly’.  It is a magnificent pendant which showcases a two 8.0 ct. trilliant cut Tanzanites, surrounded by platinum wing/petals with his signature, patented shaped inlay in gold, suspended by a necklace of custom cut marquise Tanzanites.  The pendant can also be removed and worn as a brooch.
